On behalf of the Scientific Veterinary Institute "Novi Sad" as a Lead Beneficiary in the "Protect wild birds= Protect habitats = Protect humans” (BIRDProtect) project, it is our great pleasure to announce that the International Symposium “Avian influenza and West Nile virus – global threats for emerging and re-emerging diseases”, was succesfully organized in Novi Sad, on March 10th and 11th, current year.
The symposium was dedicated to current research topics on two emerging zoonotic agents: Avian Influenza virus (AIV) and West Nile Disease virus (WNV). The focus of the program was on the influence of AIV and WNV on wild birds, but it also covered all aspects of researches that involve viral transmission, the role of vectors in virus distribution, viral pathogenesis, public health threat, climate changes, risk factors and risk assessment.
The registration fee was free of charge, and the symposium was officially registered in the Veterinary Chamber of Serbia, so the professional attendances could score 8 points by visiting the event for both days. High profile speakers were invited, the symposium was well attended.
After this event, there is just the Closing conference to be organised by the Hungarian Beneficiary "STATE FORESTRY “GEMENC CPLC.", and the project will be officially completed by the end of March 2022. Congrats! :)
